Dani Alu (UK) Limited has supplied its Barrial® Freestanding balustrade system at the Stephenson Building, Newcastle University, providing a fully compliant, visually sympathetic edge protection solution for rooftop access.

The installation, totaling 120 linear metres, was completed in collaboration with contractor Bowmer & Kirkland. Designed to meet BS 13700:2021, the system ensures the highest safety standards while integrating with the building’s existing architectural features.

The freestanding system is powder-coated to RAL 7034 Yellow Grey, chosen to complement the existing rooftop environment. Height-adjustable posts were incorporated to accommodate the flat roof’s pitch and fall, ensuring consistent performance across the entire roofline.

A bespoke design, featuring double posts and three rails, was specified to match the style of traditional railings on adjacent university buildings, maintaining a cohesive appearance across the campus.
